ROSE MY LITTLE MONKEY
REALLY SHE IS A RING TAIL CAT

Everyone wants to know about Rose (Ringo Rose), she was rescued in May 2009 )(ringtails always give birth in May) after Coon hounds knocked her out of her nest & her mom wouldnt take her back, she was brought to me with-in 12 hours after she was abandoned. She was about 4 weeks old & 4 inches long her ears and eyes were closed. she barely had any fur. I eye dropper fed her kitten esbalac until she was big enough to bottle feed (at about 6 to 7 weeks old), she started eating slowly on her own at about 10 weeks old. It has been a joy watching her grow. She sucked on her back toes when she opened her eyes & learned that her front paws are hands. She would fall down just like a baby when she was learning to walk. When she learned to run she would run into walls because she wasnt watching where she was going! Even her learning to eat & climb was fun (except when she climbed on our mantel & pushed our giant antique mirror onto the floor & broke it. She would un-zip my purse & pull all my cards & money out & hide them one at a time (luckily we knew her hiding place) As a baby she was very vocal with chirps & clicks & purring sounds, all differnt sounds like common Raccoon, now she is usually quit as she has everything she wants & needs so doesnt have to ask for it. She has a sound for Mom I am scared, & I am mad, & I want to play, & my favorite sound is mom I want to be held (she sits on my shoulder & kneads my neck & purrs into my ear, its her I love you & I am happy thing she has done since she was able to get around on her own) & the one sound she hasnt used for a long time is I am hungrey, as she has food availble all the time she doesnt have to ask)  Rose is Nocternal (completely) she cannot see in the light & so sleeps in the daytime, so when we play its at night, in the dark! Rose has gotten outside on her own 3 times since she has been a year old. The 1st time I discovered it right away & I called her she came right back, 2nd time it wasnt discovered until the next morning, we left a window in her room open with food & juice on the sill & I called her day & night (I was so scared & heartbroken) on the 3rd night I stayed up until 3 am calling her, at 7:30 Am she was in the house in her bed looking very scared (it took her days to relax she was shaking etc...) 3rd time not sure how long she was out but I just called her & a few minutes later she came running to me. Guarenteed no one else would be able to get her to ever come to them, especailly outside, since she gets scared & she wants comfort from mom & is fearful of everyone & everything else. She is very curious but if I take her outside she clings to me & you would have to pry her off me, she wraps her legs around my chest and belly & hangs on, mostly hiding in my Coat. She doesnt really for anyone else but me. She has very sharp teeth & even when playing, she uses them & the longer we play the rougher she gets. (no way to teach her not  to, as she is doing what is natural, she is a wild animal, eventhough she has been totally raised by hand) Because of her being startled or scared (twice by a stranger to her) she has bitten right into my hand down to the bone, its like having very sharp needles shoved to the bone) I have never yelled at her or gotten mad as it is not her fault. She has lots of room & toys & a blanket (she carries it around!).

Rosie weighs about 7 lbs & is about as large as a cat although her tail is longer. She can never be returned to the wild as she is a member of the raccoon family (there are a pair of ringtails for so much area  so if you introduce another into an area where there is already a pair then they will kill each other. Basically everywhere, all ready has a pair. Any type of raccoon even if hand raised should be turned over to rescues as they can be extremely dangerous & aggressive as they age & become older. Ring-tails are much smaller than the common raccoon but they still have sharp teeth, like to play rough & can & will bite down to the bone! They should never be removed from the wild unless they are hurt or injured. Never assume any wild animal is orphaned or abandoned unless you see their mother dead, mom is probably close by watching the babies. Again if you do find a hurt or orphaned animal & are not trained in raising wild animals please turn them over to a rescue group that is set up to give them proper care. Rose has a Dr and is now spayed & has her vaccinations including her rabies. She is my baby, but I do wish she would of been able to stay in her natural habitat. Sometimes I even cry but I know she can never live a normal Ring Tails life, although we try to make it as natural as possible. In the wild the young live with mom & do not venture out until 4 months old, so she is very bonded with me as her known parent. But she does not allow anyone else to hold her & will only allow someone to touch her if she is in my arms. Rose lives in her own sun room (no cage) the room is the full length of my house & is about 8 ft wide. We have put 2 by 2's around the upper part of the room with plastic tunnels and platforms so she can run around up off the floor like she would in the trees in the wild.  She like to play with toys and like to play attack & run  & chase games with me. She is not related to a ferret or possum or lemur she is a small member of the raccoon family called a Ring Tail cat. (but she is not related to any cat) she is, however related to giant & red pandas. She is very high strung & has alot of special needs & lots of attention, please do not go out into the wild & try to get a ring tail) also called Miners cats) I have taken in many injured & baby animals all have been returned to the wild, she is the only one I have ever had, that could not be returned. But she needs special care & plenty of night time play. If You would like to know more about her please ask. There is not alot known about these animals. Who are listed as carnovores & I have found through experiance are for sure Omnivores she actually prefers fruit and berries & doesnt care for meat. Please do not ask if I will sell her. She will live her long life with me, she is not for sale & never will be. In the wild they live aprox 7 years, in captivity they live up to 15 years if well taken care of. And nothing is too good for my Rose!

MOST OF THE PICS WHEN ROSE WAS REAL TINY WERE VIDEOS SO I CANT POST THEM HERE! BUT PLEASE ENJOY SEEING HER GROW! SHE IS TRUELLY MY BABY & IS NEVER CAGED! SHE HAS AN ENTIRE SUNROOM OF HER OWN CUSTOM BUILT WITH BOARDS & PLATFORMS & LARGE TUBES ALONG THE CEILING, BUT SHE DOES ENJOY RUNNING AROUND THE FLOOR & JUMPING ETC......SHE HAS FRESH WATER, 100% FRUIT JUICE, FRUITS & BERRIES & HER HIGH QUALITY DRY CAT FOOD (HAS TO HAVE VEGYS (LIKE YAMS) & FRUITS & BERRIES IN THE INGREDIANTS OR SHE WILL NOT EAT IT)
