Rose 9/9/09
Rose Dec 7 2009

Everyone seems to want to know about Ringo Rose, she was rescued after hounds knocked her out of her nest and her mother wouldnt take her back, I ended up with her with-in 12 hours after she was abandened by mom. She was about 4 weeks old her ears and eyes were closed. she barely had any fur. and was only about 4 inches long. I eye dropper fed her kitten esbalac until she was big enough to bottle feed she started eating slowly on her own at about 10 weeks old. She was born may 2009, she is now a little over 2 feet long from nose to tail, and will grow to be even longer she now weighs 2.8 lbs although she will only weigh between 2 1/2 to 5 lbs full grown. She cannot be returned to the wild as she is a member of the racoon family (there are a pair of racoons for so much area if you introduce another Into an area where there is already a pair then they will kill each other. Basically everywhere all ready has a pair. A common raccoon even if hand raised should be turned over to rescues as they can be extremely dangerous and aggressive as they age and become older, do not release them into the wild. Ring-tails are much smaller and domesticate fairly easily when hand fed but (they still have sharp teeth and like to play rough. They should never be removed from the wild unless they are hurt or injured. Again if you are not trained in raising wild animals please turn them over to a rescue group that is set up to give them proper care. Rose is now spayed and has her vaccinations including her rabies. She is our baby but I do wish she would of been able to stay in her natural habitate. The babies live with mom and dont venture out until 4 months old so she is very bonded with me and Robert as her known parents. She likes fruit and berrys more then her high quality cat food. She is Litterally our baby, and is treated like a baby. In the top 2 pics she was 11 weeks old the bottom is her playing hide and seek at 10 weeks old! she is not related to a ferret or possum or lemur she is a small racoon called a ring Tail cat. (but is not related to any cat) she is related to giant and red pandas. She is very high strung and needs lots of attention please do not go out into the wild and try to get a ring tail,) also called Miners cats) I have taken in many injured and baby animals all have been returned to the wild she is the only one I have ever had that cannot be returned. But she needs special care and a large safe special cage built as she grows, and plenty of night time play. If You would like to know more about her please ask. There is not alot known about these animals. Who are listed as carnovores and I have found are for sure Omnivores. Just please do not ask if I will sell her. She will live her long life with me, she is not for sale and never will be. One good thing is in the wild they live aprox 7 years, in captivity they live up to 15 years if well taken care of.
